He has held marketing, evaluation, research, and forecasting positions in several prominent Hawaii companies since 1983. He is currently Director of Customer Communications and Research at Hawaiian Electric. George is currently the 2017 President of the Hawaii Economics Association.

She previously served as Senior Project Economist/ OTEC, PICHTR; Energy Administrator, Northern Mariana Islands; and Staff Economist, Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands.

Rene is the Research Branch Chief for the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affair’s Division of Consumer Advocacy and was previously with the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from U.C. Berkeley and a B.A. from Stanford University.

She serves as HEA Vice President of Marketing. She is the Founder + President of Grant Writing & Consulting, a Hawaii-based firm that has raised nearly $30 million for its Client companies. She holds a Masters of Science in Economics and a Bachelors of Arts in International Business.

John M. Knox & Associates
John Knox heads John M. Knox & Associates, Inc., doing socio-economic research in Hawai‘i and Guam since 1979. Other civic work has included the Hawai‘i Council on Economic Educations and the State Tax Review Commission. John has served on the HEA Board continuously from 2003, including four years as President.
Jonathan joined the HEA board of directors in 2017. He is the Director of Analytics at the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization (UHERO). His team creates data visualizations and data management systems. Jonathan also teaches a course on data analysis and visualization at the University of Hawaii.
