Experts to Explore Hawai'i's Insurance Crisis
at 2025 HEA Annual Conference

HONOLULU, Aug. 15, 2025 – With rising costs and shrinking coverage disrupting households, businesses, and public services across the islands, the 2025 Hawai‘i Economic Association (HEA) Annual Conference will tackle one of Hawai‘i’s most urgent and complex challenges: the growing crisis in insurance affordability and availability.

This year’s conference—“Hawai‘i’s Insurance Dilemma: Economic Challenges and Policy Solutions”—takes place Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Halekulani Hotel, with an option to attend virtually via Zoom.

Through a full day of expert-led panels, the conference will examine the ripple effects of insurance instability across housing, healthcare, development, and public finance. Attendees will hear from a high-level lineup of speakers—including state insurance commissioners from Hawai‘i, California, and Florida; economists; real estate and banking executives; healthcare leaders; and public officials.

In-person (includes lunch @ Hau Terrace): $130 for HEA members, $175 for non-members
Virtual: $110 for HEA members, $155 for non-members
Student: $55 (in person) or $10 (virtual via Zoom)
